Young children need between 2½ to 4½ serves of vegetables per day (depending on age) but what is a serve size?
1 serving of vegetables is:
- ½ cup cooked green or orange vegetables (such as broccoli, spinach, carrots or pumpkin)
- 1 cup green leafy or raw salad vegetables
- ½ cup sweet corn
- ½ medium potato or other starchy vegetables
- 1 medium tomato
- ½ cup dried or canned beans, peas or lentils
